| Summary: | The author examines the application of so-called vintage lenses, focusing on their optical characteristics, image texture, and the conscious inclusion of optical imperfections as an aesthetic tool. In the theoretical part, through a historical overview, he highlights the process of optical advancements and lists the main types of lenses and the purposes of their use. Based on theory and practical examples of optical flaws, he analyzes the characteristics of lenses as well as the possibilities of correcting optical aberrations. He also addresses the issues that arise when using old lenses in contemporary film productions and outlines possible solutions for such use. He presents the main alternatives for achieving optical imperfections, such as the use of filtration, post-production, and image processing. In the practical part, drawing on the process of making the film Hide and Seek, he reflects on the theoretical foundation. He explores the aesthetic and narrative power that the choice of lens can bring. |
