Summary:This thesis examines editing as a central mechanism of meaning-making in film, with a specific focus on the domain of the film image. It explores the role of the viewer in the process of interpreting visual sequences, based on the premise that meaning does not reside within individual shots, but emerges through the relationships between images constructed by editing. Drawing on theoretical frameworks developed by authors such as Kuleshov, Eisenstein, Arnheim, and contemporary cognitive approaches, the thesis analyses how sequences of shots encourage viewers to establish causal, associative, and symbolic connections.
