| Vsebina (angl.): | A film about a leader of socialist labour. This time, however, the protagonist is a female weaver from Lodz. The film was originally meant to be produced by Polish Television but, disappointed with the results of Wiszniewski's film about Bugdol, the latter pulled out of the project. Thankfully, the Educational Film Studio (WFO) in Lodz bought the film, saving it from oblivion. As opposed to the film about Bugdol, which was based on a dissonance, Gosciminska strikes us as monolithic. The narrative comes from the protagonist herself, while Zbigniew Rybczynski's camerawork, though highly emotive, is stylistically uniform. Gosciminska's account takes form of a CV. The weaver's life thrown onto the socio-politacl canvas of pre-war and post-war communist Poland. |
