Katzen der Atalante, Die (2016)
Country of Origin: Germany Length: 15min References: IMDb Original project format: black & white language: French short fiction
Summary: | An attempt to remember and to consider the history of cinema in a different way. The film based on 'L'Atalante' by Jean Vigo (1934) focuses on the scenes in which cats appear. The artist painter Harald V. Uccello manufactured 140 drawings of them. The young actor Anton von Lucke speaks the original dialogues in the off. The musician Tobias Giezendanner rearranges the music of Maurice Jaubert and plays it on the bandoneon in the off as well. You can compare the film with the situation when you let rotate always faster a lightened cigarette in the dark till the moment comes where it seems to stand still. The film is a representational discours between the cinema, the painting, the music and the lyrics. |
